Faro de Tabarca was built in 1854 by engineer Agustín Elcoro Berocíbar and is a two-story building with a lighthouse tower above it. The building is made of stone blocks in the neoclassical style. The building once housed a lighthouse keepers ' school. In 1971, a new reinforced concrete lighthouse tower was built nearby, and the old lighthouse stopped working. However, in 1998, the old lighthouse received the status of a cultural heritage site and was restored, and the reinforced concrete tower was dismantled.
